Organic AMAP: an extraterrestrial culture?
Selection: Amiens international film festival; Clermont-Ferrand international short film festival
Summary
This documentary film is about economic, environmental, social and territorial issues related to associations supporting small farming (AMAPs). It focuses on organic AMAPs concentrated in the department of Somme in northern France. The area of farmland used within the framework of organic AMAPs remains small in this region. Their potential development is important. The members of AMAPs (AMAPians) accept some constraints such as agreed days for distribution, or food boxes made of seasonal produce. The main topics of this film include the economic and social benefits of organic AMAPs, the selling prices of their produce, yields, the difficulties that producers face in acquiring land and continuing their activity in the long run, their wages, their relationships with AMAPians and their place within the agricultural sector.
